Images: Next Mars probe lands in Florida
Earth's next visitor to Mars was delivered to Kennedy Space Center, Florida in preparation for its launch in August. The Phoenix will be equipped with tools to dig into the surface of Mars and search for life--or at least conditions favorable for life. It is expected to land in the north polar icecap region of Mars where the soil holds frozen water near the surface, according to surveys from the orbiting Mars Odyssey.
Also in this gallery are photos from the current Mars explorers, showing some of the most recent discoveries.
