Photos: ScanSoft's revamped PDF converter

Nuance's ScanSoft PDF Converter Professional 4 is set for release on Tuesday. The PDF software has been given a new interface and features.

New functions include: conversion of PDF text into WAV files; a PDF optimizer that allows compression of large files; PDF/A (the ISO standard) capability; tagged PDFs; and integration with document management programs like Hummingbird and Interwoven.

The Converter Assistant software offers a simple drag-and-drop option for turning any PDF file into a Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word or Corel WordPerfect document, while maintaining columns, rows and tables.
