Photos: Wear a rocketbelt, see the moon?
With the second annual Wirefly X Prize Cup getting under way Friday at the Las Cruces International Airport in New Mexico, a daredevil billed as Rocket Man donned his jetpack. It might seem the right attire for the occasion, but it wasn't enough to qualify for the premiere event, the Lunar Lander Challenge, which requires prospective space vehicles to fly 50 meters into the air and then another 100 meters horizontally before landing vertically, with a time limit of 2.5 hours. Alas, the jetpack only allows for about 30 seconds of flight time, though in capable hands it does allow its wearer to fly and land vertically.
