Goshawk
Greg Cole is seeking funding to produce his concept Goshawk (pictured here), a battery-powered plane. His company, Windward Performance, is the only U.S. maker of sailplanes.

Cole also designed the Sparrowhawk, made largely of carbon fiber composite. With a 36-foot wingspan, it weighs just 155 pounds and costs $41,000--or $73,000 for one with an electric motor.
