Photos: Revisiting the power of the atom bomb

Known informally as the "Acheson-Lilienthal Report," the "Report on the International Control of Atomic Energy" was published on March 16, 1946. It was the first U.S. attempt to set an atomic energy control policy and proposed cooperation between nations, as well as weapons control, rather than the outlawing of atomic weapons.
