Photos: A museum of missiles at White Sands
CNET News.com reporter Daniel Terdiman visited the White Sands Missile Range near Las Cruces, N.M., as part of his Road Trip 2007 around the American Southwest. At the site, one of only six remaining V-2 rockets in the world sits on display. The V-2 was used by the Germans in World War II to bomb targets in Europe. After the war, the U.S. took the rocket's components and, with the help of German scientists like Wernher Von Braun, devoted the technology to space exploration.
