At first I thought this was a useless feature, but eventually it grew on me.

Favorites are locations that you frequently use. All of my images are organized into different folders for different stages of processing (negatives, dark room, portfolio, etc.), so it makes sense for me to create favorites for each of those so that I can quickly jump to the folder I am looking for.
