This is a typical tactical headquarters. The headquarters contains BCIP5, a battlefield digital radio system--used to provide direct support to the U.K.'s air, land and maritime operations and to prevent "friendly fire" accidents.
The Combat Infrastructure Platform (CIP) and its Bowman digital radios (BCIP) were first accepted into military service in 2004. BCIP5 has a location, navigation and reporting system that gives situational awareness to troops and interoperability with U.K. and allied systems. The platform will come into service in 2008 with BCIP6 and a number of other BCIP increments in the pipeline.
