Photos: Geek pride runs high at wacky S.F. footrace
Star Wars Stormtroopers, Biker Scouts and Boba Fett (or is that Jango?) patrol San Francisco's Fell Street during the 96th annual Bay to Breakers Sunday. The 7.46-mile race, known for its outrageous costumes and frivolous atmosphere, is one of the largest footraces in the world. This year, an estimated 60,000-plus participants ran and walked the course, which winds from the city's Embarcadero downtown west to Ocean Beach across town. Thousands more spectators lined the route to cheer the runners on and get a look at the crazy attire.
