The start-up
MicroDisplay is a Fremont, Calif.-based start-up that will enter the LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon) market this fall as an OEM supplier to mass-market brands like Akai and Memorex. It will focus on large TVs, with sets like this 55-inch unit, as well as units with dimensions of 62, 70 and eventually 52 inches. The TVs will feature a proprietary single-chip LCOS technology known as Liquid Fidelity.
