Photos: Motion-sensing phones
South Korean mobile-phone maker Pantech Curitel released the PH-S6500 in 2005. This phone, which sports a three-axis accelerometer and three-axis magnetic sensor, uses the motion-sensing technology as an interface for games and for operating the phone as a pedometer that can measure distances traveled and calories burned. One game that comes with the phone challenges users to swing their handset as if they're casting with a fly rod, to see what fish they can catch.
