Though cell phones come in all shapes, sizes and colors, few handsets are so unique that they stand out from the mobile crowd instantly. Even the once-unusual Motorola Razr V3 is now relatively common, as a whole gallery of thin handsets has now made it blend into the crowd. But once in a while, a new cell phone struts onto the catwalk with a design that truly is unique. So step right up to see six handets that are so off-the-wall they might even be called freaky.

Verizon Wireless G'zOne Type-V

The bulky G'zOne Type-V is no supermodel, but its sexy-ugly design has a perverse appeal that does much to ensure the phone's exceptional durability.

The good: The G'zOne Type-V is an extremely rugged, durable phone that can withstand submersion in water and multiple drops to the floor. It offers decent call quality, a speakerphone, a 2-megapixel camera and support for 3G EV-DO networks.

The bad: The G'zOne Type-V lacks Bluetooth, a music player, analog roaming and an expandable memory slot.

The bottom line: The ultrastrong G'zOne Type-V is a perfect phone for extreme sports enthusiasts. It lacks some key offerings, but otherwise offers a decent selection of features and performance.
