The walls contain soy-based spray foam insulation. Paints are low in toxic, volatile organic compounds that can pollute indoor air.

Builders recycled construction waste, reusing some of the lumber for new walls. The framing includes salvaged lumber and metal studs with recycled materials. Lumber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council came from trees on renewable farms. The floors include wood reclaimed from an old barn.
