This must be my favorite alerting option. SMS (Short Messaging Service) or text messaging is an increasingly popular way of communicating. In the case of systems monitoring, this has an added use of being OOB, or out-of-band. What it means is that a text messaging alert will not be susceptible to a key router failing, or your Internet connectivity going down.
