Robert Boyd's

Robert Boyd's "Xanadu" is described as an MTV-style "rapid-fire" montage of apocalyptic thought that's meant to "probe society's self-destructive impulse while parodying various elements of popular culture," according to submitted materials.

These stills were taken from the piece, culled from hundreds of hours of archival footage. It reframes modern events into seconds-long image bits, all set to disco music.

The Brooklyn, N.Y.-based artist has exhibited "Xanadu" in museums around the world.
